Toronto readers often encounter Canadian financial commentary alongside US market coverage. For a USD/CAD signal, a one-country explanation is incomplete: the pair expresses one currency in terms of another, so both sides of the reasoning need to be visible.

Separate policy facts from predictions

The Bank of Canada publishes its policy-rate information and scheduled decisions. Bank of Canada: Policy interest rate Use the primary source to establish what has actually been announced. Then write the analyst’s expectation in a separate field. An expectation is not an official decision, even when many commentators repeat it.

Ask the same questions about the US side of the idea. What fact supports the proposed relative view? What development would weaken it? Avoid assuming that a single Canadian headline determines the whole pair.

Define the trade independently

The signal should identify entry conditions, invalidation and possible exits rather than turning an economic opinion into an immediate instruction. Keep the quote direction explicit: a rise in USD/CAD and a rise in CAD/USD describe opposite quotation movements, so casual wording can create confusion.

A human analyst can explain why they favour one interpretation and how they will revise it. For your own paper review, preserve the original message and the source material available at that moment. Compare the quality of the reasoning separately from the outcome. This creates a more useful record than collecting only examples where the subsequent chart happened to fit the forecast.
